History

Tara Stud was established as a stud in 1906 and has produced numerous top class winners incl Haymaking, Wassl etc amongst many Group and stakes winners. The late Key of Luck, sire of Almshar (Irish Derby and King George) stood at Tara for almost 16 years.

There is a very strong tradition at Tara as a very successful Public Stud with a staff that are very experienced in the handling of Stallions and Mares. Indeed our present Stallion man has been with Tara for 20 years.

 The stud is managed by Derek Iceton who has over 30 years experience in the breeding industry Derek is a leading figure in the Irish Bloodstock world and attends all major sales in Ireland, Great Britain and France.
